A groundbreaking ceremony was held yesterday for the North Torrey Pines Living and Learning Neighborhood, a 10-acre, 1.6 million square foot project located in La Jolla, California. The North Torrey Pines Living and Learning Neighborhood is an ambitious effort by UC San Diego to add on-campus student housing as part of the university’s transformation, enhancing the student experience and creating a living and learning infrastructure. This is the largest project in UCSD’s history and the live, learn and play community will include housing, academic spaces, restaurants, underground parking and more.
Thoughtfully-designed open space will be an essential part of the neighborhood. There will be many places to socialize and relax, as well as pedestrian and bike-friendly pathways. The landscape design achieves the campus sustainability goals, emphasizing drought tolerance. OJB collaborated with HKS Architects and Safdie Rabines Architects on this LEED Platinum project.
