Charles Birnbaum of The Cultural Landscape Foundation penned “Urban Parks: From Dumping Grounds to Centers of Energy” for the Huffington Post recently. In the article he focuses on the Parks Without Borders initiative helmed by New York City Parks Commisioner Mitchell J. Silver. The program aims to make parks more porous and accessible and, by extension to have them foster park equity ensuring the parks are well maintained. OJB’s Klyde Warren Park is heralded for it’s extensive programming, which has “solidified it as a local must-see destination.” Birnbaum points out that the park stitched together neighborhoods in downtown Dallas and the Arts District which had previously been severed by the eight-lane Woodall Rodgers Freeway.
