Reporter Clair Enlow covered the growing interest in freeway lidding, or deck parks, in her recent article, Design Perspectives: Can we put a lid over our urban freeways? The article focuses on Seattle’s potential lidding projects over the I-5 and I-405 which were heavily discussed at a recent ULI Northwest meeting. Jim Burnett was the meeting’s keynote and presented a case study on Klyde Warren Park in Dallas, which OJB designed. The article heralds the park as the “most successful of these traffic-hiding projects” and notes the Klyde Warren Park “is now the heart of the city. It’s a magnet for people, even on hot summer days and evenings.”
