President of award-winning landscape architecture firm to discuss successful solutions for growing Cap Park movement
As sprawling urban areas seek to reunite neighborhoods bisected by multi-lane roadways, solutions such as Cap Parks are increasingly being employed. Cap Parks maximize usable space for rapidly expanding cities and help to reconnect downtown districts divided by highway systems. James D. Burnett, FASLA, and President of nationally recognized landscape architecture firm, The Office of James Burnett, will address attendees of the National APA Conference, offering winning solutions for Cap Park implementation.
“As the revitalization of downtown neighborhoods continues to gain prominence, constituents are seeking open spaces and significant quality of life improvements,” said Burnett. “Unifying neighborhoods divided by freeways has been challenging, however Cap Parks are proving to be a very feasible solution.”
Burnett will join a panel of industry thought-leaders and will present a case study on Klyde Warren Park in Dallas whose development helped to drive economic development, increase property values, attract retail establishments and draw residents to new recreational opportunities.
