2012 Association of Architecture Organizations Conference Program
On November 08–10, Dallas, Texas will host the 2012 Association of Architecture Organizations Conference.
The opening night lecture will be given by Jim Burnett who will be addressing this year’s conference theme, “Connecting People and Place.” This event, presented in conjunction with the Dallas Architecture Forum, is open to the public. It will be held at the Magnolia Theatre at West Village (3699 McKinney Avenue). A pre-event reception begins at 6:30pm; the lecture begins at 7:00pm.
The following morning, the conference session “Connecting with Place: Urban Parks and Instant Impact” will include representatives of the OJB-designed Klyde Warren Park. A walking tour of Klyde Warren Park will immediately follow this session.
The AAO Conference is the largest annual gathering for designers, educators, and arts/culture programmers to discuss the latest trends and strategies for spurring public discussion about architecture and design. In addition to Jim Burnett, featured speakers include Robert Ivy (American Institute of Architects), Susan Chin (Design Trust for Public Space), Reed Kroloff (Cranbrook Academy of Art), and Charles Birnbaum (The Cultural Landscape Foundation).
