Fast Company’s Innovation by Design Awards highlight some of the leading ideas across all industries and brands that celebrate smart and resilient solutions. We are delighted to announce that The RiverFront in Omaha is the top 2024 winner for Urban Design. After a two year master planning process and more than three years in construction across 72-acres, the urban park has completely changed the city and the region.
Kyle Fiddelke, OJB partner and lead designer for the project noted, “Parks are the building blocks of cities. We took three neglected urban parks and totally redesigned the relationship of Omahans to the Missouri River.” The cumulative and ripple effects of the revitalized public space have already brought more than $2B in further reinvestment to the city.
The parks are filled with people from morning to night, making a connected public realm that is walkable and dynamic, encouraging people together to connect with nature and with each other.
