Houston is in the process of reworking the freeway network around downtown. Houston civic leaders and the Texas Department of Transportation are discussing the concept of depressing the U.S. 59 freeway and building a deck park on top, similar to OJB’s work for Klyde Warren Park. Currently, the freeway is a barrier between downtown and the EaDo district, however this green space could reconnect the two districts and be a true catalyst for EaDo District and east Houston development.
