The San Diego Daily Transcript published its annual list of the Top 100 Influential Leaders in San Diego and featured Jim Burnett. Reporter Jennifer Chung Klam interviewed Jim about his professional background, OJB’s project portfolio, and the driving factors behind the firm’s designs.

“We want to do the right thing for the client and for the environment” Burnett said. “Life’s too short to try to cut corners and do things that, long term, are going to be harmful to the environment. We have a strong environmental conscience, and we’re interested in bringing that awareness to the client.”

OJB’s award-winning Sunnylands Center & Gardens has been heralded for its eco-sensitive planting choices. Plantings include 53,000 hand-picked specimens from over 50 arid-landscape plant species chosen for their sculptural character, seasonal interest, and wildlife habitat value. Cutting-edge water efficiency measures throughout the site allow the garden to thrive using only 20% of its water allocation from the Coachella Valley Water District.
