Levy Park is a highly programmed 5.9-acre urban park centered within the residential development project in the Upper Kirby District of Houston, Texas.

Last week eight massive old growth Live Oaks were relocated to their now homes within the children’s garden and event lawn on the southwestern end of the park. The relocation was performed by EDI and the client, The Upper Kirby Redevelopment Authority (a Public-Private Partnership) will see full construction begin in late summer 2014.

Programming for the park will include a Performance Pavilion, two large Event Lawns, a Community Garden, several water features and a Dog Park. A generous Promenade circling the park will connect games area, play berms, decomposed granite seating courts and a Food Kiosk. Several mixed-use residential and office buildings sit across the street and are united with the park by renovated streetscapes around the park.

At the heart of the park is a winding children’s garden, which among its playful fountains and tree houses will sit several of the 40-70-year-old legacy Live Oak trees seen relocated on-site here.
